What is NEST?

NEST Stands for National Entrance Screening Test. The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai Conduct the NEST Exam Once in a year. It is a National level Entrance Exam conducted for providing admissions to the five-year integrated M.Sc programme. The test is conducted in around 60 cities across India.

National Entrance Screening Test Cut off Marks 2019

Finally, National Institute of Science Education & Research has conducted the examination at various exam centers throughout the country. The aim of conducting the exam is to provide admissions for the M.Sc programme offered by the NISER. The Examination will be of Objective Type Questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and General Awareness. Aspirants can score maximum of 230 Marks in the test. All the contestants have to complete their exam within the duration of 3 Hours. In the test, the sections of General, Mathematics were easier than Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. There is No Negative marking in the General Section. Only the three highest scored sections were considered for merit calculation. The board will consider the following factors to prepare the NISER Cutoff 2019.

NEST Marking Scheme – SAMS and MAS

Total Score of the Candidate = Score in General Section + The Best three scores in the Subject Section

SAMS Stands for Section wise minimum cut off marks

If the average of the best 100 scores in the section of General is 50 out of 60, then SMAS for the General Section would be 50 x 0.20 = 10 Marks.
Finally, the participants should get the minimum marks in each section which is equal to or greater than the SAMS of that section.

MAS (Minimum Admissible Score)

For NEST 2017 the MAS is 50% of the total marks i.e, 180.
