NEST abbreviated as National Entrance Screening Test. NEST is a National Level Entrance Exam conducted for admission to the five-year integrated M.Sc programme in Basic Sciences- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Every Annual the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS) regulates the NEST Exam.
The Authority organizes the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) in around 60 cities (over 100 venues) across India. The Students who wish to do five-year integrated M.Sc programme offered by NISER and UM-DAE CBS have to appear the test. National Entrance Screening Test (NISER NEST)
NEST is an India level entrance test conducted for admission into the undergraduate programmes offered by the NISER Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CBS. Every annual lakhs of students participate in the examination to get admissions in those institutions. Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. The main campus of NISER is Jatni. NISER offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences.

Reservation Criteria for NEST 2020
- Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15%
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5%
- Other Backward Classes – 27%
- Person with Disabilities – 3%
- Supernumerary Quota for Jammu & Kashmir candidates – 2 seats in each institution.
The authority will give priority as per the Reservation Criteria which is given above. All those reserved candidates have to submit their Caste Certificates along with required documents issued by 01 June 2020. Hence all the reserved applicants must obtain the requisite documents and certificates in accordance with GOI norms. The last date for getting the Caste certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST) from the officials is June 2020.
Seat Availability at NISER Bhubaneswar and CBS
For the five years integrated M.Sc Programme (2020-25), NISER has 200+2(JK) seats and CBS has 45+2(JK) seats. The Candidates belonging to reserved categories can get the admission under the seats reserved for them as per the norms of Government of India (GOI). NEST Eligibility Criteria 2020

Educational Qualification of National Entrance Screening Test
- Aspirants should have possessed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with the combination either as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
- The candidates should have passed the qualifying examination in either 2020 or 2019.
- The people appearing the class 12th in 2020 are also eligible.
- The Applicants must secure the minimum marks mentioned below to apply for the NISER NEST 2020 Exam.
- For General and OBC – 60%.
- For SC/ST/PD – 55%.
Age Limit
- Applicants belonging to General and OBC category should born on or after 01 August 1998.
- The age relaxation of 5 years is applicable to the reserved candidates [SC, ST, Physically Disabled (PD)].

NISER Admissions – NEST Counselling 2020
The Authority will conduct the NEST Counselling 2020 within few days after the declaration of result. Therefore all the qualified candidates need to attend the counselling at the venues on specified dates. NISER 2020 Counselling will start from the last week of June and through Offline mode. The officials will take the attendance of candidates at the venues of counselling. The NEST Counselling process will be done in two rounds.
- Phase 1
- In this round, the officials will prepare the combined modified merit list on the basis of attendance at NISER and CBS and original merit list.
- Finally, the contestants will be allocated the seats on the basis of final merit list.
- Phase 2
- The authority will conduct the 2nd round of counselling for the vacant seats after the first round of counselling.
